Numinous Beauty

As the sun rises and a full blue moon sets on this January 1, 2010 morning, Mauna Kea’s shadow descends to the western horizon. Sunlight illuminates the summit of Pu‘u Poliahu – home of Hawaiians’ goddess of ice and snow. At the first dawn of this new decade, early morning light quietly touches the crater’s rim above Lake Waiau, whose surface still reflects the setting moon.
