Meeting of the Mountains

I feel uplifted as I stand in the presence of three giant volcanoes – Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa and Hualalai. My vantage point is high on a grassy cinder cone on Kohala, the oldest and now smallest volcano on the island of Hawaiʻi. Each of the three giants is mysterious and powerful in its own way, and the broad plains where they meet feel charged with electricity. My body hums as I watch the play of morning clouds and light upon them.
